Character Design: Syllarian

So eventually these and some others will go in one big comp for my portfolio.

Obviously each one needs to be worked out individually.

syllarian, galefire, gargoyle, medieval armor

Humanity has long relied on the Syllarians as cheap labor, ever since they were brought to heel during the Empire’s days of starfaring.  Since the Cataclysm and subsequent escape into the night,  not to mention changing attitudes, some of the Syllarians have decided to strike out on their own into the vast empty spaces upon the shield-world, mainly taking up residence in a vast mountainside sanctuary.  While some Syllarians remain loyal to their masters, or their laborious jobs, many have fled to this stronghold of Syllarians power.  However, rumors say that the Syllarians found something locked deep within the mountain sanctuary, something that should never have been found at all.

Syllarians are thick-skinned, muscular humanoids, usually between two to two and a half meters in height.  Their massive frames usually weigh in at several hundred kilos, with the largest of their species easily over two-hundred kilos.  Their hide is very tough, gnarls with age, and is crested in some regions with thick fur, varying in a range of colors from bright orange to dark purple.  Their eyes are generally sharp yellow, with thin pupil slits.  Male brows comprise of large bone crests, sometimes profuse with spikes and other sharp bone masses; these crests seem to feed into their warrior/tribal culture.  A short, furred tail seems to assist with balance, and it also adorned with jewelry at times on females.

Since leaving much of humanity behind, the Syllarians have taken again to shaping iron and carving stone, both of which seem to be profuse in the mountains regions of the shield-world (a curious development to the Flame Sect Artificers).  Humanity had nearly lost touch with the Syllarians in the mountains, so busy with their own problems, until the Tainted began to arrive that is.
